Lot size calculator for prop challenges
Most lot size calculators know your stop. This one also knows your challenge: it shows how much of today's loss limit a single stop-out uses, and how many losses in a row you can take before a floor.
- Position size (lots)
- -
- Loss if the stop is hit
- -
Commission included, at the rate for this challenge in the Challenge Rules.
- Share of today's loss limit
- -
- Stop-outs in a row
- - today

How the size is calculated
Lots = Risk ÷ (Stop × pip value per lot + commission per lot), rounded down to 0.01.
For pairs quoted in US dollars, such as EUR/USD, one pip on 1.00 lot is worth $10. For pairs with the dollar first, such as USD/JPY, the pip value depends on the price, which is why the calculator asks for it. Gold is sized per 100 ounces, so a $1 move is worth $100 per lot.
Why the daily limit matters more than the account size
On a prop challenge the real budget for today is the distance to the higher of the two floors, not the balance. A 1% risk sounds small until you see it is a quarter of the day's room on a 4% daily limit.

Contract sizes, pip values and commissions can differ by instrument. The calculator uses a standard 100,000-unit forex lot and a 100-ounce gold lot, and the commission and leverage published in the Challenge Rules (sections 6.2 and 6.3). Confirm the contract size shown on the platform before trading.
Position sizing and the rules
The Challenge Rules prohibit all-or-nothing exposure, where results depend on a single position or event. Sizing each trade so one loss uses only a small part of the day's room keeps you inside the rules and in the game.
